Fire & Flood
The Artifact is an ancient work of great power which according to legend supports a framework of energy which holds the city of Sharn up above the seas. Very little is known for sure of the Artifact but much has been postulated.
According to legend: Eight hundred years ago, when Breggor began to rebuild the city that had been known as Shaarat, his mages found that the foundations were deteriorating and that the seas threatened to break through into what would one day be called “The Cogs.” The mages came up with a complex system of magical braces, built in a complex spiderweb across the depths of Sharn, powered by artifacts imbued with the souls of Fire Elementals. The crux of this system was a source of power already ancient, even then. A statue forged by the Dhakaani in the cities early days, a magical item holding the imprisoned soul of the great Fire God who dwelt in the lava pools under the city that would be Sharn.
The Artifact is now kept by an enigmatic tribe of Kobolds called the Illish-kikai, or Quieter Ones, who refer to it as the Parthanis. The investigator Andrei Molakov and his companions discover that it is kept by their leader, the Navarrix during the course of Fire & Flood as well as that it was invented by the ancient kobold Farengix.
Recently it has been rumored that the Artifact has gone missing and an emissary from the Mayor, [[Mr. Smith | Mr. Smith]], has assembled a party to seek it out.
